Contemporary by Angela Li is pleased to announce its participation in KunstRAI Art Amsterdam 2026, taking place from 22 to 26 April in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The gallery will present a group exhibition featuring works by five Hong Kong artists: Ken CHAN, Wai Lap CHAN, Kitty KONG, Man Chun KWONG and Agnes LEUNG. Together, their practices offer a compelling glimpse into Hong Kong's evolving contemporary art scene and its broader social landscape. Founded in 1985, KunstRAI is one of the longest-running art fairs in the Netherlands and a well-established event within the contemporary art world.

Ken CHAN engages with themes of history, social phenomena, and personal memory, exploring what he describes as a subconscious embedded within reality. His works reveal a delicate interplay between transience and eternity, encouraging viewers to contemplate the traces time leaves behind. Wai Lap CHAN is known for his ongoing Swimming Pool series, through which he examines the fluid boundaries between public and private, self and other. Interweaving social commentary, his paintings create spaces for dialogue and resonance. Kitty KONG develops surreal narratives at the intersection of everyday life. Drawing inspiration from her own poetry, she translates written words into visual compositions that bridge literary imagination and painterly expression, reflecting the complexities of contemporary life. Man Chun KWONG merges Chinese classical ink techniques with contemporary expression to construct imaginary landscapes. His work evokes a sense of serenity and timeless beauty, drawing viewers into meditative realms where Chinese traditions and modernity quietly converge. Agnes LEUNG captures the mundanity and quiet joys of modern adulthood through her signature humorous characters. With their exaggerated features and playful expressions, these figures transform everyday moments into opportunities for play, reflection and discovery.
