Lai Sio Kit received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. The soft brushwork and muted colors of his paintings embody the artist’s longing reminiscence for the history of Macau. The rooftops of the archetypal “tang lau” tenement buildings are his creative wellspring. The potted plants and other miscellaneous objects on the rooftop gardens are all pressed into the service of point, line and plane, revealing the artist’s exacting control of the painting.
