Since Lei Ieng Wei received his Master’s Degree from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Lei Ieng Wei has taken up the task of “depicting” space. His early works created space through rays of light in a darkened atmosphere, often trapping the viewer within. In recent years, the artist has perhaps been subconsciously influenced by the unique shape of his studio. His recent works break the space of the past with cold abstract methods to create vast openness that roams between two-dimensional and three-dimensional space. This is perhaps a new outlet for painting.
