The women that Peng Di has crafted differ from the women of Theresa’s era in sixteen Century in that their sexual awareness has been awakened. They are the kind of women who know which kinds of women are cute, the kind of women who consciously display their femininity and sexual charm. In this sense, they are lively contemporary women. Through the collision of different media, Peng’s sculptures explore the relationship between human body and metal which reflects a strong contrast and states as an appealing symbol itself.
Peng Di was born in Sichuan, Chongqing, China. She graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 1993. Currently lives and works in New York, USA. Previous exhibition, “+ -” (Contemporary by Angela Li, Hong Kong, China), “Each Other – China Cultural Exchange Exhibition” (Toulouse, France), “National Public Sculptures Achievement Exhibition” (Beijing, China), “Chilies From Chongqing” (Kassel, Germany).
